The Narrow Gate

Image
Matthew 7:13-14 [13]“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. [14]But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Church Hyminal 373 1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us o'er the world's tempestuous sea; guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us, for we have no help but thee; yet possessing every blessing, if our God our Father be. 2. Savior, breathe forgiveness o'er us; all our weakness thou dost know; thou didst tread this earth before us; thou didst feel its keenest woe; lone and dreary, faint and weary through the desert thou didst go. 3. Spirit of our God, descending, fill our hearts with heavenly joy; love with every passion blending pleasure that can never cloy; thus provided, pardoned, guided, nothing can our peace destroy. Jesus used a very familiar analogy to show us t

The Standard you use in Judging...(Understanding Christ Kingdom Phases)

Matthew 7:2 [2]For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. Anglican Hyminal: A&M Revised 205 1. Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down, fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown. Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art; visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart. 2. Come, almighty to deliver, let us all thy grace receive; suddenly return, and never, nevermore thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above, pray, and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love. 3. Finish then thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be; let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee: changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise. But Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God...(Understanding Christ Kingdom Business)

Image
Mathew 6:33 [KJV]But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. To understand the intentions of Christ towards this particular verse, it's crucial to go back to the last two verses thus: Matthew 6:31-32 [31]“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ [32]These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. As human beings here on earth, these are basic questions that runs through our mind daily but as members of Christ divine Kingdom, Jesus admonished us that we should not be occupied by such questions and thoughts because our heavenly Father already knows that we need them. He went further to assert that these questions dominates the thoughts of unbeliever and the only way we can distinguish ourselves as Children of the Kingdom is to not allow the questions take over us. It's clear to say that

Sacred Songs and Solos ( SS&S 680) Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !  Ye soldiers of the cross ;  Lift high His royal banner,  It must not suffer loss ;  From victory unto victory  His army shall He lead,  Till every foe is vanquished,  And Christ is Lord indeed.  2  Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !  The trumpet call obey ;  Forth to the mighty conflict  In this His glorious day !  Ye that are men now serve Him,  Against unnumbered foes ;  Let courage rise with danger,  And strength to strength oppose.  3  Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !  Stand in His strength alone :  The arm of flesh will fail you---  Ye dare not trust your own :  Put on the gospel armour,  And, watching unto prayer,  Where duty calls, or danger,  Be never wanting there.  4  Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !  The strife will not be long ;  This day the noise of battle,  The next the victor's song ;  To him that overcometh  A crown of life

Where your treasure is...(Understanding Kingdom Investment)

Matthew 6:21 [21]Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Anglican Hyminal A&M Revised 296 1. Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, pilgrim though this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty; hold me with thy powerful hand; Bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore. 2. Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow; let the fiery cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through; strong Deliverer, be thou still my Strength and Shield. 3. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside; death of death, and hell's destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side; songs of praises, I will ever give to thee. The first understanding we allowed need to have is that we all are visitors to this earth and will one day depart from it. The main issue that brought about this statement in vs 21 by Jesus is to direct us on how to invest our living while on earth. This system of inv

The church a movement that must move forward — Okoh

Image
St. James Church, Asokoro Abuja The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has dedicated another building, St. James Anglican Church in Asokoro, Abuja. This came barely a week after the church dedicated its national secretariat also in Abuja. Speaking at the dedication service, the Primate of Church Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh said the Church is not a monument, but a movement that must continue to move forward. “The Church is a flowing river, not a stagnant pool that becomes filled with all sorts of rubbish and is smelly as a result of being stagnant. Therefore, this Church must be a centre where the gospel flows,” he said. The Primate noted that dedication is setting apart for holiness, whereby that which was dedicated became God’s property and used for only holy activities. He said: “The house has been dedicated, but the human beings must also be dedicated, so that there will be a flow of the Spirit from the environment to the individual and

John 14:3 [Darby]and if I go and shall prepare you a place, I am coming again and shall receive you to myself, that where I am ye also may be. Church Hyminal 607 1 I'm but a stranger here, Heaven is my home; Earth is a desert drear; Heaven is my home: Danger and sorrow stand Round me on every hand; Heaven is my fatherland, Heaven is my home. 2 What though the tempest rage, Heaven is my home; Short is my pilgrimage, Heaven is my home: And time's wild wintry blast Soon shall be overpast; I shall reach home at last, Heaven is my home. 3 There at my Saviour's side, Heaven is my home; I shall be glorified, Heaven is my home. There are the good and blest, Those I love most and best; And there I too shall rest, Heaven is my home. 4 Therefore I murmur not, Heaven is my home; Whate'er my earthly lot, Heaven is my home: And I shall surely stand There at my Lord's right hand: Heaven is my fatherland,

In My Father's House... (Understanding Christ Kingdom Agenda)

Image
John 14:1 [KJV]Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.2 [KJV]In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. United Methodist Hymnal, 1989 1 Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,  calling for you and for me;  see, on the portals he's waiting and watching,  watching for you and for me. Refrain: Come home, come home;  you who are weary come home;  earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,  calling, O sinner, come home!  2 Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,  pleading for you and for me?  Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,  mercies for you and for me? [Refrain] 3 Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,  passing from you and from me;  shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,  coming for you and for me. [Refrain] 4 O for the wonderful love he has promised,  promised for you and for me!  Though we have sin

Parable of the Cancelled Debts and Lessons

Image
Luke 7:41-43 [Darby]There were two debtors of a certain creditor: one owed five hundred denarii and the other fifty;42 [Darby]but as they had nothing to pay, he forgave both of them [their debt]: [say,] which of them therefore will love him most?43 [Darby]And Simon answering said, I suppose he to whom he forgave the most. And he said to him, Thou hast rightly judged.  Lessons from the Parable  No matter how much your debt (sin) is, the very moment you turn to the Lord and acknowledge that you cannot help yourself, the Lord is full of love rich in Compassion and He will forgive and forget all our sins.  God is not a man that will cancel your debt and still exploit you, rather He forgives and restores the wasted years lived in ignorance  No matter how big and lofty your sin cannot be, the Lord will surely have compassion and there is no big or small sin before Him. Love God with all your heart and always seek to do His will, this way His mercy you will employ.  P

The Parable of the Sower

Image
This parable is contained in Mathew 13:1-8; 3 [KJV] And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;4 [KJV]And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:5 [KJV]Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:6 [KJV]And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.7 [KJV]And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:8 [KJV]But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.9 [KJV]Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.10 [KJV]And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?11 [KJV]He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.12 [KJV]For whosoever hath, to him shall be g
