The Narrow Gate

Matthew 7:13-14
[13]“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
[14]But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.

Church Hyminal 373
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
o'er the world's tempestuous sea;
guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
for we have no help but thee;
yet possessing every blessing,
if our God our Father be.

2. Savior, breathe forgiveness o'er us;
all our weakness thou dost know;
thou didst tread this earth before us;
thou didst feel its keenest woe;
lone and dreary, faint and weary
through the desert thou didst go.

3. Spirit of our God, descending,
fill our hearts with heavenly joy;
love with every passion blending
pleasure that can never cloy;
thus provided, pardoned, guided,
nothing can our peace destroy.

Jesus used a very familiar analogy to show us the way to eternal life and a way to eternal condemnation. The narrow gate here connotes the life of holiness, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

It is called a narrow gate because you cannot combine it with any other lifestyle, else you will be charged for excess load.

The gate to eternal life is narrow and for any man to pass through it, such a man must lay off the load of sins and come with the password and passport of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The gate is indeed narrow and the road is difficult and only few people ever find and walk through it. Any man who goes through that road may be mocked and deserted by friends but it's worth walking through because Christ will be with you and you will never walk alone, for one with Christ is majority.

The narrow gate requires separation from worldly passion and sins. It is impossible to enter through that gate with your sins, so lay them down today at the feet of Jesus and begin your journey to. Many has been on the narrow route carrying excess luggages of sin, thinking that God will pity them for carrying too much load, the Lord can only have pity when you decides to lay them down.

God will not also widen the gate because one rich man is coming with his wealth, no need to come with all that just lay them down and come alone, you might not successfully drag everyone along with you because it's a personal journey and each man must be found carrying his cross.

Friends, let us strive to enter through that gate, be righteous, live in peace with God and men and never allow anything to take away the joy of the Lord in your life. Say no to sin and mean it. Rebuke the devil and he will flee from you.

Prayers
Blessed Messiah, we thank you for this month series, thank you for your wonders through your word. Lord grant us the grace to stand firm in you, help us on our journey to eternal life that all who fines this narrow gate which is Christ Jesus will follow Him till the end.
I pray for every of these people of your flock, may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, bless and grant you all that is good, and may He walk in us that which is pleasing unto Him through Jesus Christ our Lord! To Him be glory forever more and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
