No one can Serve Two Masters...(Understanding the Principles of Devotion)

Sacred Songs and Solos ( SS&S 680)
Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !
Ye soldiers of the cross ;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss ;
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.

2
 Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !
The trumpet call obey ;
Forth to the mighty conflict
In this His glorious day !
Ye that are men now serve Him,
Against unnumbered foes ;
Let courage rise with danger,
And strength to strength oppose.

3
 Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !
Stand in His strength alone :
The arm of flesh will fail you---
Ye dare not trust your own :
Put on the gospel armour,
And, watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.

4
 Stand up ! stand up for Jesus !
The strife will not be long ;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor's song ;
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be ;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally

Matthew 6:24
[24]“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Jesus Christ again gave us insight as regarding devotion. He made it clear that no man can serve to Masters and be loyal to them at the same time.

The concept of the two masters was derived from the two preceding verses as we can see below:
Matthew 6:22-23
[22]“Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light.
[23]But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!
The Masters here are light and darkness, that a man cannot contain light and darkness at the same time; so it's either you carry light in you or darkness and very impossible to carry the two.

The concept of true devotion demands total allegiance to one master, if you are for the light which symbolises Christ, then remain faithful and trust worthy of him, and if you are for darkness which signifies devil, remain loyal to him alone. You cannot be for Christ and the devil at the same time, you must be devoted to one and hate the other.

The confusion of being a Christian at church and a cultist at home, or being a child of God in the public and something else in the private is not recognised as true devotion under this revelation.

When you are for the light, it's a call to give and surrender all to Jesus and put your absolute trust in Him. That's why St. Paul gave us a striking revelation in Hebrews 11:6
[6]And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

For a man to be loyal to God and God alone, Faith is the principal thing, at every point of your living you must be found not looking up to anything else that is not Christ. You must be assured of God's ability to do all things and reward all deeds.

You cannot consult God and consult the devil and come and give testimony in church; you cannot claim devotion to God and still cherish or keep in possession the instrument of the devil; St. Paul again gave us another striking revelation in 2 Timothy 2:19
[19]But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the lord must turn away from evil.”

Finally, on the concept of true devotion, you can deceive everyone around you but you can't deceive God, He is the one that searches the heart and sees all that happens in the secret and open and if you have willing declared devotion to Him, you must depart from inequity.

Prayers
Most Holy and Immortal Redeemer, we thank you for opening the eyes of our understanding especially in a confused world like ours today, Father give us the grace to have absolute Faith in you for this is the only way the just can live by. Cause us to renounce darkness in totality and let all our yearning be for you and you alone. I pray for as many who are still confused as to where to stand, may the light of Christ invade such lives in the name of Jesus Christ! Thank you blessed King for in Jesus Christ the Most incomprehensible name we Pray! Amen
