The Passion of Christ: Fourth Word on the Cross

45 Now from the  sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,   Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say,  My God, my God, why  hast thou forsaken me? Matthew 27:45-46

Jesus in Your Dying Woe
10 Jesus, whelmed in fears unknown,
With our evil left alone.
While no light from heav'n is shown:
Hear us, holy Jesus.

11 When we seem in vain to pray
And our hope seems far away,
In the darkness be our stay:
Hear us, holy Jesus.

12 Though no Father seem to hear,
Though no light our spirits cheer,
May we know that God is near:
Hear us, holy Jesus.

MEDITATION

Jesus Christ at this point being in the likeness of man was whelmed by our sins which represent darkness for about 3hours; the loneliness he felt in this darkest hour moved him to cry out to the Father asking why has he forsaken Him, but His resurrection was a prove that God did not actually forsake Him but just turned his back at that darkest hour because he is too Holy to behold inequity.

Have you ever witness darkness and think that God has forsaken you? Or walked through the valley of the shadows of death and think God has left you? No matter the circumstances of darkness around you; the Lord has promised us in Isaiah 60:2b that the Lord shall arise upon us and His glory shall be seen in us, also in Psalm 23:4 that even when we walk through the valley of the shadows of death we shall fear no evil for the Lord will be with us.

Job was afflicted silly with all kind of afflictions but he lifted up his voice and said "I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVE" Paul and Silas were thrown in the prison also Joseph and it seems God has abandoned them but we see the glory of God that was revealed through them.

Finally Friends, the Lord will not be angry forever, He will not reject forever; the only thing that makes it looks as if God is far from us is our sin and if only we can confess and forsake them, He is faithful and just to forgive us.

Prayers
Everlasting, you are the reason why earthly ages fade, in mercy my God your Kingdom reigns, God over everything you are near; all of the universe is at your feet. Thank you because when the enemies opened their mouth very wide to swallow us, you through your precious son Jesus Christ delivered us. Thank you because you are our strength and refuge; a present helper in the time of trouble. Thank you for whenever we call upon you answer us not counting our inequity against us. Thank you because through your Son Jesus Christ you have saved us from the law of sin and death and has brought us into the kingdom of your everlasting light. Blessed be your Holy name Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Amen.
